The cruiser HMS Norfolk in Lake Timsah near Ismailia.  This photograph was taken by Lieutenant Robert 'Rex' King-Clark from his Miles Whitney Straight aeroplane, registration G-AERS.

HMS Norfolk was commissioned in April 1930.  She served in the West Indies station until 1934 then the East Indies station until 1939.

Norfolk spent the Second World War in the Atlantic.  She escorted convoys in the South Atlantic, the North Atlantic and the Arctic Oceans.  She also took part in the battles that sank the German warships Bismark and Scharnhorst.  At the end of the war she transported the Norwegian Royal Family back to Oslo, ending their exile in London.  She was scrapped in February 1950.
